T673: Atmospheric and Surge Wavefront Effects on Limits of Approach
The statistical properties of the atmospheric correction factor for the dielectric strength of air is determined for 11 different climatic regions in Canada, from hourly records of wet and dry bulb temperature and pressure over a ten year period. The mean value is in the range 1.001 to 1.01, when adjusted for altitude. The standard deviation is generally in the range of 1 to 1.5%, although it is less in coastal regions and for large gap lengths, and up to 2.5% at higher altitudes. It is proposed
