G172: Study of Fish Mortality as a Function of Spillway

An extensive review of published and unpublished information on fish mortality as a function of spillway characteristics is presented, along with design and operating suggestions that will eliminate or reduce the impact of Canadian spillways on fish. Current research of fish response to spillways on the lower Columbia River is reviewed and an assessment of Canadian fish conservation problems associated with spillways is presented.
