3030: Identifying and Documenting Existing Substation Ground Grid Detectors
Grounding grids can deteriorate over time. Stresses typically include high magnitude fault currents,unbalanced load current, soil chemistry leading to corrosion, trenching by contractors’ installation offootings or pipelines, and (all too frequently) the theft of copper. This report documents a literaturesearch, utility survey, review of instruments, procedures and industry best practices to identifydeficiencies in the integrity of ground grid conductors, equipment and structure grounds, a
