The technology of chemical pulp bleaching is in flux. Effluent discharge regulations and market forces are both causing a shift away from teh use of chlorine to chloring dioxide. There are also proposed regulations and market forces proposing that theuse of all chloring compounds be eliminated, in favour of other oxidizing agents such as hydrogen peroxide and ozone. This report provides technical and economic information concerning the solar assisted heat pump systems from which their performance is assessed in Canada over a twenty year life cycle period.
