G942: Bench-Scale Investigations of NOx Oxidation and Removal in Wet Scrubbing Systems

The capability of wet FGD systems for simultaneous NOx and SO2 removal was investigated in a mini-pilot scale, perforated-tray absorber. A parametric test matrix was conducted for the three major variables identified in preliminary tests, gas phase NO:NO2 ratio, SO3 2- ion concentration and pH, to determine the conditions required to maximize NOx removal in wet scrubbers.

The objective of this project was to develop a comprehensive regional air quality modelling system and to apply the system to the Southern Atlantic Region (SAR) of Canada. There has been a lack of research specifically examining the effect of heat addition on frictional pressure drop in two-phase flow systems.
