G607: Tightening Strain Measurement Techniques For High Temperature Bolting

The objective of this project was to identify available techniques for bolt tightening strain measurement for high temperature bolting by utility, literature and vendor surveys and to assess the available techniques. Techniques identified were the turn-of-nut method which is very widely used, the micrometer method and the state-of-the-art ultrasonic technique. G521: Correlation Between Dynamic Stress and Vibration Velocity in Complex Piping Systems

The report assessed the correlation between peak dynamic stress and maximum vibration velocity in complex piping systems. Six models, including four piping system models (representative of power plant steam system designs) and two shell models (representing pipe and elbow components) were analyzed for vibration modes and dynamic stresses. The ratio of peak stress to maximum velocity was calculated for 126 "beam" type vibration modes and eight "shell" modes.
