A colorimetric analytical technique has been developed which can be used to measure 2 furfuraldehyde in transformer oils. Concentrations down to 0.1 ppm can be quantitatively determined.The spectrophotometer, used to measure the adsorption spectrum, is provided with an RS232 interface. The adsorption spectrum data can be downloaded to a computer, stored to a datafile, and by mathematical data manipulation the concentration of 2-furfuraldehyde in the transformer oil can be displayed on a PC.Work
